We're so happy to feature Inspired Retreat Alumni Emma Kozlowski of Emma Lyn Designs this week! She was our Inspired Retreat scholarship winner at our May 2018 event, and this opportunity helped focus and motivate her, which has lead to increased productivity and sales. We're excited to catch up with her to find out what she's been up to since!
Where were you in your business journey when making the decision to attend Inspired?
I felt like I needed to hit the reset button with my business and evaluate my business practices. Inspired help me refresh and reboot my business.
Knowing what you know now, what would you tell yourself on Day 1 of starting your creative business?
Just do it. Don't over think things and just get started. You will learn and grow, but that all takes time.
What is one action item from your Inspired Retreat experience that has changed your business and/or mindset?
I have been able to fully understand and accept that I am doing enough and I am making my business work for my current season of life.
With the abundance of noteworthy creative workshops offered, why would you recommend Inspired Retreat over another?
It is a fully immersive experience where you get to meet people and truly connect with other creatives. I was able to disconnect from the outside world and completely connect with myself and my my business while I was at the retreat.
How has your investment in Inspired Retreat paid off for you and your business?
I have been much more focused and motivated since leaving the retreat, leading to increased productivity and sales.
What is one thing you have implemented that has helped you to streamline or help manage your creative business and family/personal priorities?
I have become much more organized and focused. Each day when I wake up, I make a list of the 3 things I am going to accomplish that day, and then I make a list of a "brain dump" of all my ideas. It allows me to get all of my crazy ideas out on paper, but then makes me focus on just a few things that are the most important tasks
What things do you do to stay creative/be inspired?
I love going to the fabric store and looking at new patterns, textures and colors. This gets me so excited to go home and create something new!
What is your daily routine like?
I am a stay at home mom, so my daily schedule revolves around my one year old. When I wake up, I make my list of things to accomplish, and then during nap time, I get very focused and get to work!
What is your favorite business book, magazine, or podcast?
So many podcasts! I listen to podcasts all day long. One that I love No Limits by Rebecca Jarvis.
So, what's next for you?
I have big plans to grow my product line to introduce a variety of new accessories! I am excited to think about all of the different things that I will be able to offer in the future.
