When did you attend Inspired Retreat? Fall 2014!
Where were you in your business journey when making the decision to attend Inspired? I was about 3 years into my business, suffering from a little self doubt and unsure where to go next.
Knowing what you know now, what would you tell yourself on Day 1 of starting your creative business? Be patient with yourself, be true to yourself and keep learning, because every year your life will change a little and so will your business!
What is one action item from your Inspired Retreat experience that has changed your business and/or mindset? I absolutely loved hearing personal stories from the speakers and being able to relate to them! Especially on the topic of balancing being a wife, mother and small business owner.
With the abundance of noteworthy creative workshops offered, why would you recommend Inspired Retreat over another? In just a couple days I felt filled up with powerful and useful information from each person that I had listened to and communicated with. The small atmosphere was great because I tend to be a quieter person. The fact it was in a beautiful environment helped my creative mind take a break and refresh! Also, bonus, the food was amazing!
What is one thing you have implemented that has helped you to streamline or help manage your creative business and family/personal priorities? The one extremely useful lesson learned was to hire out what you do not like to do or are not good at! At the time I attended the retreat I was doing everything myself and I struggled to keep my head above water. I decided to re-brand and hired people to do it, so I could focus more on my clients and my family.
What things do you do to stay creative/be inspired? I have to get outside and be with friends and family! I find all of my inspiration in God's creation and laughing with the people I love. I also have tons of journals and sketch books that I am constantly writing ideas in, trying to push my business into the next phase.
What is your daily routine like? My mornings are slow, I use this time to connect with my family and start off the day right with a healthy breakfast and a somewhat organized space. Then I hustle in the afternoons, a mixer of client work, focusing on the big picture items, and tending to my stay-at-home-mom duties. We break in the day to get outside and run errands. Later, there is more hustle and then wrapping up the day and focusing on re-evaluating daily, weekly, monthly goals. I confess I am a night owl when it comes to work, but when I finally start to shut down, I love my bedtime routine with a hot bath, writing, and diffusing essential oils.
What is your favorite business book, magazine, or podcast? I read 168 hours: You Have More Time Than You Think, and it changed how I view everything! I also read Art and Fear every couple of years for an artistic refresh. I love listening to Jess Lively's and Pay Flynn's podcasts!
So, what's next for you? I am currently focusing on growing my audience and writing on my blog. I will soon be opening an online shop and completing a fine art body of work that was taken during tropical travels last year and exhibiting it!
Yay! We're excited for you Nicole and good luck with your exhibit! Keep up with Nicole on Instagram!
